We crafted this stethoscope to honor James McCune Smith who was the first African-American physician. He graduated at the top of his class while attending medical school at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. As well as being a pioneer in medicine, Dr. Smith was an abolitionist who used medicine as a means of intellectual liberation. Dr. Smith's aspirations inspired us to continue his legacy as a trailblazer within the healthcare industry.
